Johannes Hösflot Klaebo won the Tour de Ski for the fourth time, equaling the record for victories held by Grison’s Dario Cologna. The Norwegian maintained a margin of 1’23”0 over Mika Vermeulen, 2nd overall, at the end of the terrible climb of Alpe Cermis on Sunday.
Already crowned in this stage event in 2018/19, 2021/22 and 2022/23, Klaebo flew through the debates in this 100% Italian edition. He won the first two stages in Dobbiaco (a sprint and a mass start in the classic), before also winning twice in the Val di Fiemme (in the sprint then in the skiathlon).
Johannes Hösflot Klaebo was content to manage on Sunday, arriving in 18th position, 1’13”7 behind the day’s winner Simen Hegstad Krueger. Second on the line 7”8 behind the Norwegian, the Austrian Mika Vermeulen rose to 2nd place in the final of this Tour de Ski, ahead of the Frenchman Hugo Lapalus. Best Swiss, Beda Klee finished 44th in this final stage.
Ladies: Johaug’s final success
On the women’s side, Therese Johaug (36 years old) won the final general of the Tour de Ski for the fourth time after 2014, 2016 and 2020. Leader before the climb of Alpe Cermis, the experienced Norwegian left no chance to his adversaries.
As soon as the slopes became very steep (up to 30%), Johaug took off alone in the lead to win the last stage in a very good manner. The Norwegians also signed a quadruple on Sunday with Astrid Öyre Slind (2nd), Heidi Weng (3rd) and Nora Sanness (4th). On the Swiss side, Anja Weber finished 29th at Alpe Cermis, two places ahead of Nadine Fähndrich.
In the final general, Therese Johaug is ahead of Slind by 47 seconds and the American Jessie Diggins by 2’41. Nadine Fähndrich finished 24th and Anja Weber 26th.
