Following the publication by the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas of a video showing Liri Albag, an Israeli soldier taken hostage on October 7, 2023, the Minister of Heritage, Amichai Eliyahu, affirmed on Saturday that the hostages were suffering from the flight of a video showing Israeli soldiers mistreating a Palestinian detainee this summer.
“The price of ‘fabricating’ the slanderous videos in the Sde Teiman affair is being paid dearly by those held hostage in the Hamas tunnels,” Eliyahu wrote on the social network day when the legitimacy of the IDF is undermined = one more day [pour les otages] in the Hamas tunnels.
“Whoever is behind this blood libel must be brought to justice,” he added, using a term that refers to unfounded allegations of ritual murder by Jews in the Middle Ages, which serve as a pretext for anti-Semitic violence.

Coalition MPs condemned the leak of footage broadcast by the N12 channel in August, which purported to show soldiers sexually abusing a Palestinian security prisoner in the Sde Teiman detention center. On July 29, an ultranationalist crowd broke into the two military bases in order to interrupt the legal proceedings initiated against the reservists suspected of having committed these abuses.
At a High Court hearing last week, a lawyer for one of the suspects in the abuse case claimed the video was edited from footage from two separate days, including one where the The alleged victim was not even present, Ynet reported.
