A 4th season of 20 goals for Cole Caufield

Cole Caufield has just reached an interesting plateau in the Canadian uniform, as he scored his 20th goal of the season as well as CH’s first goal in 2025, last night against the Chicago Blackhawks.

A great gift to give yourself the day after your birthday.

This is a fourth consecutive season of 20 goals or more for the Habs sniper, an achievement that demonstrates remarkable consistency in a team that has been sorely lacking in recent years.

Thanks to the assistance of Mike Matheson and of Nick SuzukiCaufield was able to reach this plateau in just one more game than his personal best dating from 2022-23.

The production of number 13 is particularly interesting to analyze this season.

BEFORE AND AFTER RETURNING WOOL

From October 9 to December 3, 2024, Caufield collected 16 goals and 6 assists in 24 games.

However, since the return of Patrik Lainethe latter scored 4 goals and 9 assists in 14 games.

Despite a marked slowdown in his production since the return of the Finnish star forward, Caufield has been able to adapt his style of play by acting more as a playmaker, particularly on the power play.

The last three matches, however, suggest a return to his scoring habits; he who found the back of the net three times in his last four outings.

At the current pace, the Habs small forward is heading for a 42-goal season, which would be a career-high.

Do you believe the final number will be higher or lower than 42?

  • Cole Caufield is currently entering the first year of his 8-year contract with an average annual value of $7.85 million.
