Argentine footballer Rodrigo Garro, playing for Brazilian club Corinthians, was involved in a tragic incident on Saturday night, where he hit and killed a person while driving “under the influence of alcohol” in General Pico, his hometown.
Prosecutor Francisco Cuenca confirmed that this case is considered aggravated manslaughter. Garro, 27, is currently at large, but is expected to provide a statement soon.
“This is aggravated manslaughter due to drunk driving,” Cuenca said, noting that Garro remains free and that “he will be questioned in the coming days.”
The tragic accident occurred when Garro, driving a pickup truck, hit Nicolás Chiaraviglio, 30, who was riding a motorcycle and tragically lost his life on the spot.
The Corinthians club released a statement confirming the incident, expressing its cooperation with investigations and its commitment to supporting Garro and his family during this difficult time.
