OL won this Saturday against the Hérault red lantern (1-0). A sluggish success which allows OL to climb to two points off the podium.
Olympique Lyonnais suffered this Saturday, on their lawn, to ensure the essential and overcome Montpellier (1-0), on the occasion of the 16th day of Ligue 1.
Lyon jostled
Montpellier showed a very different face from that displayed during their last outing in Puy in the Coupe de France. Galvanized, the MHSC players played their best against the sleeping Gones. It was also a veteran of the house who almost punished the wait-and-see attitude of the locals. With a powerful strike, Jordan Ferri smashed Perri’s bar (2nd). Despite numerous attempts, from Savanier (19th, 34th) or Akor Adams (36th, 44th), the red lantern did not find the fault. For its part, Lyon offered nothing and scored no shots despite the numerous movements initiated by an untenable Lacazette.
Lyon comes out on top
The second act started like the first, this time the jostled OL relied on the VAR. On a lightning counter led by Sylla, the same Jordan Ferri thought he would open the scoring (52nd). The joy of the Montpellier midfielder was short-lived, after viewing the VAR, the referee refused the goal for a foul by the MHSC player at the start of the action on Malick Fofana.
Despite several attacks on Lecomte’s goal, the Lyonnais had only one real action, on a cross from Lacazette, the Hérault goalkeeper had to make an incredible reflex save to avoid Maksimovic’s CSC (50th). It was precisely on an own goal that Lyon found their salvation. Lacazette found to the right of the area protected his ball well before pivoting to cross halfway. Lecomte could only deviate towards Tolisso who threw himself to resume, countered by Tchato. Unhappy Fayad arrives launched and pushes despite himself into his net (90+1)!
OL, who were left with a defeat against PSG (3-1) after nine matches without defeat, took advantage of this success to come back two lengths from the podium and Monaco. The MHSC remains bottom of Ligue 1.
