On the fifth day, the third different winner in the Africa Eco Race 2025. Nicolas Charlier was the fastest in the fifth stage this Saturday, interrupting the domination of Alessandro Botturi and Jacopo Cerutti.
The Belgian of the Ténéré Yamaha Rally team completed the 435 km timed between Laayoune and Dakhla in 4h08m24s, beating Francesco Montanari (Aprilia) by 2m30s, while Massimiliano Guerrini (Solarys Racing/Husqvarnaisi) finished in 324th place. Followed by Johan Persson (Klwn Racing/KTM) and Yuji Kahara (SMRP with Bivouac Osaka/Husqvarna).
The drivers who dominated until yesterday had a difficult stage this Saturday. Cerutti (Aprilia) did not go beyond 35th place, 47m18s behind the winner, while Botturi (Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team) achieved the 37th time at 50m16s. These results allowed Cerutti to regain the lead in the general classification, having a lead of 1m30s over Botturi.
In third position is Francesco Montanari (Aprilia), already more than an hour behind the first two, with Guillaume Borne (Team GBR/Husqvarna) in fourth and Pål Anders Ullevålseter (Team Norwit/KTM) in fifth. Charlier climbed to sixth place.
It was the last day of the Africa Eco Race spent entirely in Morocco, with tomorrow a day of rest before arriving in Mauritania with the sixth stage. This reserves 172 km timed between Dakhla and Benichab.
