Melanie Hasler reaches the podium in monobob at the World Cup in Winterberg. The 26-year-old Aargau came second behind German Lisa Buckwitz.
The Swiss was delighted with a second World Cup podium in monobob. She had already finished second at La Plagne last season. This time, the coup was nine hundredths short.
Debora Annen completed the large Swiss balance. The junior world champion achieved her best result in her first season with a fourth place.
Melanie Hasler started the second round with a handicap of only three hundredths over Lisa Buckwitz. The German, who always achieves excellent starting times, took advantage of this advantage. In the second round, she took eleven hundredths from Switzerland by pushing. Then the lead was only slightly reduced until the finish.
Debora Annen set a track record in the second run in 58.46 seconds and overtook world champion Laura Nolte. The track record was then broken by the top three in the final standings. Lisa Buckwitz ultimately lowered the record to 58.25.
Monobob is a women’s Olympic discipline. The next world championships will be held in Lake Placid in March.
