The Quebec Remparts started the year 2025 on the right foot Friday evening with a 4-2 victory against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the first game of a doubleheader between the two teams.
The pack was the first to register as 19-year-old forward Rémi Gélinas, who recently accepted a contract with the Huskies as a free agent, scored his fourth goal in five games by beating the Remparts goalkeeper, Benjamin Lelièvre, in the upper portion of the net.
Éric Veilleux’s men quickly responded through Thomas Auger to create equality.
Then, midway through the second period, defender Alexandre Taillefer, who celebrated his 17th birthday on January 1, scored his second goal of the campaign to give the Red Devils the lead.
Auger then scored his second goal of the match to make it 3-1.
Bombarding goaltender Lelièvre with more than forty shots during the game, the Huskies did not say their last word. In double power play, Gélinas scored a second time to reduce the gap to a single goal.
Antoine Dorion sealed the outcome of the game by scoring into an empty net.
