The 20-year-old goalie, native of Saint-Elzéar, Samuel St-Hilaire, got a tryout in the American Hockey League at the start of the year.

St-Hilaire will join the San Jose Barracuda, the San Jose Sharks’ farm club, the team announced Wednesday.

The former Sherbrooke Phoenix played until very recently with the Rimouski Océanic. In 16 games this season, he maintained an average of 3.31 and an efficiency percentage of 0.880.

St-Hilaire was no longer part of the Océanic’s plans, since the team decided during the QMJHL holiday break to assign its three 20-year-old player positions to Saint-Odilon forward Jacob Mathieu , to Adstock defender, Pierre-Olivier Roy as well as to Lévisien, Jonathan Fauchon.
