Jonathan Toewswinner of three Stanley Cups and former captain of the Chicago Blackhawks, is attracting the attention of several NHL teams as he considers a return to play, according to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff.
Now 36, he hasn’t played since the 2022-23 season. That year, he scored 15 goals and 16 assists for a total of 31 points in 53 games before withdrawing to treat chronic inflammatory response syndrome and symptoms related to long COVID. These health problems had already forced him to miss the entire 2020-2021 season and part of the 2022-2023 campaign.
Toews could return this season or wait until 2025-26, although he must be placed on a team’s reserve list before the trade deadline, set for March 7, to be eligible for the playoffs.
In a recent interview with GQToews confided his desire to resume his career in the NHL. He also revealed that he had undertaken a detoxification treatment in India in 2024. This five-week treatment included intense massages, induced vomiting and enemas.
In his career, Toews amassed 883 points in 1,067 regular season games, in addition to 119 points in 137 playoff games. Under his leadership, the Blackhawks won three Stanley Cups (2010, 2013, 2015), and he received the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2010. On the international stage, he won two Olympic gold medals with Canada (2010, 2014) and a title at the Hockey World Cup in 2016.
