Ten years after the attack: An issue of “Charlie Hebdo” produced by high school students from the Grand Est

Ten years after the attack which targeted the editorial staff of Charlie Hebdo in , the French satirical newspaper is preparing to publish a special issue produced in collaboration with high school students from the region. Around 200 young people, from 14 high schools, worked on this project, “supervised by journalists from Charlie Hebdo and specialized speakers,” explains the Region in a press release published Friday.

This exceptional issue, “developed for several months”, will be published on Tuesday January 7, the sad anniversary of the attack which, at the beginning of 2015, left twelve people dead in the newspaper's premises. 22,000 copies will be distributed to all high schools in the Grand Est, as well as to numerous institutional and cultural stakeholders. Subscribers to Charlie Hebdo in the region will receive it free of charge and it will be available online.

An initiative which “testifies to the ability of young people to take on complex subjects and express their ideas on themes as crucial as secularism, the fight against discrimination and freedom of the press”.
