Politics in Luxembourg: Musk “tries to take control in our democracies”

“Citizens of any country do not want you to interfere in their democracies. With your fascist policy, which only serves your commercial interests,” launched MP Franz Fayot (LSAP). He responded sharply on X to Elon Musk, who believed that the British “no longer want” their Labor government.

The owner of the social network, future member of Donald Trump’s administration, went so far as to call for “new elections” across the Channel, in the wake of his positions on German politics, in favor of the extreme RIGHT. “It’s dangerous that the richest man in the world uses his network for his uncontrolled and extreme positions,” reacts Corinne Cahen (DP). The MP, who “now publishes less often on X”, is worried to see “radicals supported by a member of the future American government”.

Laurent Mosar, CSV MP, says he “also has big problems with Mr. Musk’s positions”. According to him, the social network “has not evolved well” since the takeover by the whimsical billionaire in 2022, who renamed it X, precisely because of “this interference”. MP Fred Keup (ADR) takes a different position: according to him, Elon Musk is a defender of freedom of expression and democratic principles, who only gives his opinion, like Bill Gates or George Soros (other billionaires Americans)”.

The ADR faction leader believes that “some, like Mr. Fayot, have difficulty tolerating that different opinions are defended, while journalists and politicians often go beyond their role, including on foreign subjects, including Georgia and Romania, without it creating controversy. But Corinne Cahen believes on the contrary that Elon Musk “is not just giving his opinion: he is trying to take control in our democracies”.
