Impressive fire in the heart of downtown Chelles (Seine-et-Marne). During the night of Thursday January 2 to Friday January 3, 2025, around 3 a.m., a fire broke out in the restaurant Oliviero Fast Food, located 31 rue Gambetta. The flames spread and affected a bakery and a medical analysis laboratory.
The Italian restaurant, open since last summer, and the bakery have been completely ravages by the flames while the laboratory was only partially affected.
20 firefighters on site
The Seine-et-Marne Sdis was notified around 2:45 a.m. and quickly, 20 firefighters from four nearby fire stations were dispatched to the site. Three fire hoses were needed to put out the fire which could not be completely brought under control until much later in the morning. Fortunately, no one was there at the time of the incident, reassure the firefighters.
If the origin of the fire seems accidental at presentan investigation was still opened and entrusted to the Seine-et-Marne police.
Time for cleaning
Via his social networks, Brice Rabaste, mayor of Chelles, wanted to provide his support for affected merchants and to congratulate the firefighters “for their rapid intervention”. “I am thinking of the traders concerned as well as their customers and I hope that their insurance companies will do what is necessary as quickly as possible to repair the damage and allow the reopening of these businesses,” continues the councilor.
City services will carry out the cleaning of public roads as soon as the experts have visited. The BIO-VSM LAB medical analysis laboratory is temporarily closed. Patients can go to their branches at 50 avenue du Maréchal Foch in Chelles or 10 avenue de la Gare in Vaires-sur-Marne while waiting for it to reopen.
