The iPhone 17 range which should, logically, be unveiled this fall will undoubtedly include a smartphone with a new design. The iPhone 17 Air, which seems more and more likely, would replace the Plus model… so much so that it could be sold at the same price.
The hypothesis of a iPhone 17 Air seems more and more clear. Apple would like to offer a much thinner model than the current iPhones, by cutting back on components to make room. It is rumored that the smartphone would be satisfied with a single photo sensor on the back, probably a wide angle of 48 MPx. It would also be entitled to an A19 chip (not the Pro version however) under a 6.6 inch screen.

All this would allow the manufacturer to drastically reduce the thickness of the device. We are talking about 6.25 mm, which would make the iPhone 17 Air one of the thinnest smartphones on the market: it is 2 mm less than the iPhone 16 Pro (8.25 mm) and 1.55 mm less than an iPhone 16 (7.8 mm). The record for the thinnest iPhone is still held by the iPhone 6, at 6.9 mm.

The Korean site Rest of the Journal “confirms”, so to speak, the 6.25mm thickness of the iPhone 17 Air. More interestingly, the site’s sources indicate that the price of this model will be in the same waters as the iPhone 16 Plus, which starts at €969 ($899 in the United States). The Plus models, which the iPhone 17 Air would replace purely and simply, would have the greatest difficulty finding a buyer.
Rest of the Journal also explains that Apple will not be the only manufacturer to thin its smartphones. Samsung would also like to impose a slimming treatment on its Galaxy!
