For the past year and a half, Jonathan Toews has said that he has not given up on his career as an NHL player.
To regain his health, Toews even traveled the world to find different remedies. And finally, he seems to be doing well since he is thinking more and more seriously about a return to the game.
And no, it certainly won’t be with the Canadian.
On this subject, Frank Seravalli provided an update on his case. And in his update, he talks about whether a return to play this season is likely, how it’s shaping up. Toews is back at a hockey player’s weight and he’s skating.
Is this definitely going to happen? Not certainlyNo. But there are chances.
Chicago was not named by Seravalli among the teams likely to sign him. It’s not exactly a surprise in my eyes, as he must surely want to come back and win. Let’s also remember that the Hawks said goodbye to him in 2023 and not the other way around.
According to Seravalli, three Stanley Cup contenders are worth watching: the Avalanche, the Jets and the Maple Leafs.
The Colorado case is not a surprise to me since we have been talking about this possibility for a long time. As for depth at center, it could do it if he’s in good shape.
The Jets? It’s a big club and he’s from the area. That would be very Bobby Hull. #Chicago #Winnipeg
And in Toronto, the attraction of going for Toews comes from the fact that he evolved in a market original six and that he would bring depth to the center on a third line. And clearly, he knows how to win the Stanley Cup.
Note that he will have to sign before the March 7 trade deadline to avoid waiting until next season to win the Stanley Cup a fourth time. His return could wait until this summer, but if he feels good, a return to play now could definitely be a possibility.
