The drag star’s publicist, Simon Jones, shared the news in a statement posted to social media on Sunday, January 5.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you that our beloved James Lee Williams – The Vivienne, passed away this weekend,” the statement said. “James was an incredibly loved, warm and extraordinary person. Their family is heartbroken over the loss of their son, brother and uncle. They are so proud of the wonderful things James has accomplished in their lives and careers. »

The cause of Vivienne’s death is unknown and the statement declined to provide any information. “We will not disclose any further details,” it reads.

Jones concluded: “We please ask that James’ family be given the time and privacy they now need to process and grieve. »

La Vivienne won the first season of Drag racing in the UK in 2019 and has become a household name.
