A physical recovery awaits the young Boulazacois this Sunday. They will face Poitiers for the 32nd of the Coupe de France U18 and will be keen to get the year off to a good start.
The objective is simple: win the match. This Sunday at the Agora, the U18s from Boulazac Basketball Dordogne will host their counterparts from Poitiers for the 32nd of the U18 French Cup. The opportunity to test yourself, because Poitiers will be part of the Boulazacois group for the second phase of the championship. So you might as well make good resolutions now.
“We want to skip this round to go to the sets [NDLR : après le 32e de finale, un week-end sera consacré au 16e et 8e, match le samedi et le dimanche]. Afterwards, it will inevitably be a special match, but an interesting match,” said Anthony Monset, Boulazac’s coach. First match of the year 2025, it comes only four days after the resumption of training for young basketball players. And yet not everyone has put on their sneakers again. “We started again on 2 with some of the players and the whole team met again this Friday. That’s not a lot of training to prepare for the match,” adds the coach.
Getting your bearings
The second objective will be to avoid injuries. Not spared by the injuries, the U188s made do with what they had at hand during the first phase of the championship and will be able, during January, to recover some injured people. “We will have two returning for this match, so they have not been able to train much but at least we will have the number,” rejoices Anthony Monset.
And then, by facing Poitiers, a team of their level, the Boulazacois will be able to see what awaits them in a few weeks, when the championship resumes. They will also have other ambitions, having managed to grab the teams from their group, such as Bordeaux, Pau or Dax. “We had a complicated first part of the season in terms of sports, we know that. Morally, the fact that we are getting two players back brings euphoria, it’s good news,” says Anthony Monset.
Enough to give balm to the hearts of these young people who will try to move on to the next round and negotiate their return well.
