The 7th edition of the Voix des Outre-mer competition closes its rich season in apotheosis with the grand finale at the Paris Opera

The 7th season of the Voix des Outre-mer competition ends in apotheosis with the grand finale at the Opéra national de Bastille, in . After their detections, a year of training and their victories in each of the Overseas territories, the finalists met in Paris during the Voix des Outremer academy to perfect their preparation. Now sharpened, they will be able to show their talent and give the best of themselves to try to win the title of the most beautiful Voice from Overseas.

This competition was imagined and created by the famous Martinican countertenor Fabrice di Falco and organized by the association Les Contres Courants directed by Julien Leleu for “ give real visibility to overseas singing talents on the national and international scene » with the objective also “to establish a bridge between territories to fight against discrimination in the world of music and particularly opera”.

A benchmark competition in the opera world

Considered at the beginning as a minor competition, the Voix des overseas competition has today established itself as a reference in the selective and demanding world of opera with the discovery of real talents who have been able to break through a glass ceiling which has long limited the abilities of overseas opera singers. Overseas voices who can now envisage great national and international careers. This is evidenced by the success of Guadeloupean mezzo-soprano Axelle Saint-Cirel, winner of the 5th season of the Voix des Outre-mer competition, which illuminated the opening of the Paris Olympic Games with its masterful interpretation of the Marseillaise.

Today, the Voix des Outre-mer competition has definitively won its letters of nobility and its stripes as a talent scout. It must be said that the organization does not spare its efforts and does not count its time for the success of its project. Its results are therefore the fruit of hard work carried out by the members of the organization. So, for this 7th edition, 1,227 hours of free vocal practice lessons and masterclasses were provided with the participation of 14 singing teachers and pianists. 10 territorial finals were organized with a total of 50 jury members who made it possible to elect the territorial finalists. A competition that is increasingly followed by the public with 2,714 spectators in person for the finals and more than a million spectators on , radio and digital. The Voix des Outre-mer competition also sees this year the creation of a lyric opera and 7 concerts, including 3 in renowned French opera venues.

An ever more exciting competition season after season

Knowing that several prizes are awarded, the novelty of which this year is the public’s favorite, whose voting began on January 1, 2025 on the Overseas Voices site, which from Thalia Garson (Guadeloupe), Oksana Mesmin (Guyana ), Cédric Barabas (), Orleonne Divo Prince (), Helena Lopez (Mayotte), Livio Heafala (New Caledonia), Mytsuru Kato (French Polynesia), Noémie Collumeau (Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon), Giovanni Bernabé, Laetitia Volcy, Alice You-Seen and Cassandra Bortalis (), will succeed Winona Berry, winner of season 6, for the very coveted by the most beautiful overseas voice of this 7th edition?
