Six children and four adults are believed to have had a rough start to the new year, as a Lego structure collapsed onto a crowd of families gathered in an arcade celebrating to welcome the New Year.
“Everyone is OK,” Peabody, Massachusetts Fire Department Chief John Dowling told NBC News on Tuesday.
In the middle of the afternoon, the confetti had not finished falling from the ceiling when the shouts of celebration were replaced by surprise, then terror, in the restaurant and arcade establishment “In The Game”, located near Salem, Massachusetts.

Except that the net that contained the multi-colored balloons was held in place by a 12-foot-tall Lego structure, erected on a ledge of the building, which would then have been dragged by the arch before falling on the party-goers, according to NBC News .
As many as ten people, including four adults and six children, were believed to have been injured by the large structure of small plastic bricks, although only minor injuries, including cuts and scrapes, John said Dowling to the American media.
Eight of the injured were nevertheless transported to Salem Hospital at the Lahey Medical Center, while two others refused transport to a hospital center.
“I didn’t know anyone was hurt at first. Then I was a little worried and everyone started evacuating and then an ambulance arrived. And a fire truck. And then the stretcher came out,” 13-year-old Keegan Oblenes told NBC Boston.
The establishment indicated that it was working with the authorities to shed light on this incident.
