This January 1, cities like Dijon, Greater , and Nancy adopted the measure, the metropolis of Metz, for its part, has postponed the obligation until summer 2025.

A consultation first, the Crit’Air vignette then

A reprieve thanks to the Climate and Resilience law which leaves the decision-making areas to the urban areas regarding the perimeter of the ZFE. This period of time will allow the metropolis of Metz to “ validate the area and be as less restrictive as possible“, explains Béatrice Agamennone, vice-president in charge of mobility, contacted by us at the start of the year. Because the perimeter must cover half of the population and surface area of the metropolis (Metz, Montigny-lès-Metz, Woippy for example) and delimit the conditions of entry of vehicles into the territory.

If the ZFE must be known and effective for this summer, after a period of consultation, you can now buy the sticker and stick it on your windshield. All you have to do is order it on the dedicated site, providing your registration certificate and a means of payment (€3.11 per vehicle).

Which vehicles are affected?

The new regulations should impact cars and two-wheelers registered before January 1997 or heavy goods vehicles put into service before September 2001. In the heart of the metropolis, diesel vehicles registered before 2000, corresponding to Crit'Air level 5, before 2005 (Crit'Air 4), or even gasolines over 19 years old (Crit'Air 3) will be able to drive on Metz territory, but will remain banned in Paris, Lyon, and even Nancy by 2028 for vehicles displaying a Crit'Air 5 sticker or being unclassified.
