Social networks: Meghan Markle returns to Instagram after five years of absence

To kick off 2025, Meghan Markle made her comeback on Instagram, five years after leaving the social network. The actress and wife of Prince Harry inaugurated, on January 1, her new personal account soberly called “Meghan”, with a video in which she appears alone but which would have been filmed, according to Peopleby her husband in person.

In this short video, we see the Duchess of Sussex, dressed all in white, running barefoot on a beach and writing the numbers 2025 with her finger on the sand, before smiling furtively at the camera. These images would have been filmed near the villa of the princely couple in Montecito, California, the American magazine understands.

Meghan Markle, who had a total of 3 million followers on Instagram as well as on her lifestyle blog The Tig, no longer had a personal account since her engagement to Harry in 2017. She then communicated via the couple’s official account, @sussexroyal, but this was removed after the prince retired from royal duties. In March 2024, she launched a new account dedicated solely to her American Riviera Orchard product line.
