The Administrative Housing Tribunal of Quebec announced that it is proposing an increase of 5.9% for the next year.

This is an unprecedented increase in 30 years.

The measure applies to accommodation heated by the tenant without an increase in taxes or insurance and without major work. Last year, the increase was 4%.

Listen to Véronique Laflamme, spokesperson for the Popular Action Front in Urban Redevelopment (FRAPRU), who expresses her concern about the impact of these increases on tenants, particularly those already financially vulnerable.

She criticizes the lack of adequate government measures to protect tenants and calls for an increase in the number of social housing to counter rent inflation in Quebec.
