At this stage of the investigations, there is no “irrefutable link” between the car-ramming attack which occurred Wednesday in the French Quarter of New Orleans and the explosion of a Cybertruck in front of Donald Trump’s building, the FBI said.
There is no “irrefutable link” between thevehicle-ramming attack on New Orleanswhich left at least 14 dead on Wednesday, and the explosion the same day of a Tesla brand Cybertruck in Las Vegasthe FBI announced Thursday.
“At this point, there is no compelling link between the New Orleans attack and the Las Vegas attack,” Christopher Raia, a senior FBI official, said at a news conference. The official also explained that at this stage of the investigation, the FBI believes that the alleged perpetrator, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar and shot by police, had acted alone.
The man had proclaimed in several videos his support for the Islamic State group and had also claimed to have joined the organization. He also planted two homemade bombs in the city’s French Quarter, where crowds were flocking to celebrate the New Year. “We obtained surveillance videos that show (the suspect) placing the devices where they been found,” said Christopher Raia.
