Edward Pettifer was the stepson of Princes William and Harry’s former governess, Tiggy Legge-Bourke, also known as Alexandra Pettifer.

She married Charles Pettifer, Edward’s father, in the late 1990s.

Foreign Minister David Lammy said he was “deeply saddened” by the death of this Briton. “We support his family and remain united with the United States against terrorist threats,” added the minister on X.

The Metropolitan Police said they were helping the victim’s family with the procedure for repatriating the body to the United Kingdom.

Edward “will be missed terribly”, reacted his “devastated” family, quoted in the Metropolitan Police press release.

Fourteen people were killed, and around thirty others injured, in the attack, which occurred in the tourist French quarter of New , in the south of the United States, in the midst of New Year’s festivities.

A former American soldier, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, “inspired” by the jihadist group Islamic State (IS), rushed his car into the crowd. He was later killed in exchanges of fire with police.
