Faraday Future is expected to unveil prototypes of its FX line of electric vehicles at CES 2025, taking place January 5-7 in Las Vegas. The FX sub-brand is designed to offer more affordable models than the company’s premium FF 91 SUV.
The FX lineup, first introduced in September at an investor meeting, includes two models: the FX 5 and FX 6. Vehicle prices are expected to be between US$20,000 and US$50,000, depending on configurations and features. Models will be available with fully electric or extended-range gasoline powertrains.
The prototypes were shipped from Beijing to Los Angeles and arrived on December 19, according to the company. Following their public display at CES, the vehicles will be developed and tested at Faraday Future’s facility in Hanford, California.
Faraday Future launches Faraday X, an affordable electric brand
Faraday Future plans to adopt an asset-light production model for the FX Series, possibly outsourcing manufacturing to contract partners. This approach mirrors that of other electric vehicle startups, including the now-defunct Fisker. It has not been confirmed whether production will take place in California or at an outside factory.
The company initially anticipated a 2025 production start for the FX line, but additional details on manufacturing and deployment timelines are expected during CES.
Faraday Future’s expansion plans take place in a difficult financial context. On December 22, the company announced a new financial commitment of $30 million to support its operations. However, this amount remains modest compared to the capital typically required to launch new vehicle platforms.
