Legalize cannabis and allow convicted dealers to join a market regulated by the State: this is the proposal formulated by Sébastien Delogu, La Insoumise (LFI) deputy from .

In an interview broadcast on the Twitch platform, the elected official expressed his desire to reintegrate people convicted of cannabis trafficking by offering them the possibility of participating in the legal sale of this substance, once it is authorized.

“The person who today has sold cannabis all his life and who goes to prison because of that, if we ask for the legalization of cannabis and for the transport of cannabis to be well managed by the French state, we can asking questions about people who have been penalized before and being given the opportunity to sell and govern that,” he says. For Sébastien Delogu, this measure could prevent these individuals, upon their release from prison, from turning to more dangerous substances.

A model inspired by Portugal?

As reported by Le JDD, the Marseille MP affirms that this approach is inspired by the Portuguese model, although this comparison seems inaccurate. Since 2001, Portugal has decriminalized the use of all drugs, preferring social and medical support to criminal sanctions. However, the sale of narcotics remains prohibited in this country, contrary to what Sébastien Delogu suggests.

A deputy accustomed to controversies

Sébastien Delogu is not his first controversy. On December 29, he stood out for a video published on his X account (formerly Twitter), in which he appears in the process of achieving a record during a game of strength with a hammer and an anvil, in a games room. Accompanying the video, he added a provocative caption addressed to his detractors: “The fascists are whenever you want. »

This latest outing once again illustrates the divisive style of the Marseille MP, whose positions regularly spark debate.
