A sordid discovery… The lifeless body of an infant abandoned in a trash bag was discovered Monday, December 30, by a jogger in Mably in the Loire department, we learned from the Roanne public prosecutor’s office.
“The naked body of the newborn was found in a garbage bag, placed on the edge of the greenway which runs along the Loire canal”Roanne prosecutor Xavier Laurent told AFP, confirming information from the website of the weekly Le Pays.
A call for witnesses launched
Medical examinations and an autopsy were ordered by the prosecution to determine whether the child was born alive and in what state of health. These examinations were carried out on December 31.
They reveal that the infant is born viable and the body was “hidden in the bag and immersed in water”, according to a press release from the Roanne prosecutor. However, other additional examinations must be carried out to determine the causes and time of the baby’s death. An investigation into the murder of a minor under 15 years old has been opened.
-Furthermore, according to France Blue, a call for witnesses has been launched. “The circumstances of the discovery of the body are such as to presume that people other than the witness who reported the facts were able to notice the presence of the child’s body or at least the black bag in which it was found.”
