In England, the year 2025 began with a small miracle. On Wednesday January 1, West Midlands Police announced that they had found the trace of Sheila Fox, who disappeared from the city of Coventry in 1972… more than fifty years ago.
According to the Guardian, the police launched a new call for witnesses on Sunday, December 29, by publishing a photo of the missing woman on social networks. Grainy and of poor quality, the photo nonetheless helped solve the case.
At the time of her disappearance Sheila Fox, 16, was living with her parents in Coventry. Local police assumed she was in a relationship with an older man and may have moved out of the area.

However, just a few hours after the photo was broadcast in December, the first information collected on Sheila Fox confirmed this hypothesis. The police learned that the missing woman, now 68 years old, lives in another region of the country. Without giving further details, they assured that she is alive and in good health.
“We are delighted to announce the conclusion of one of the longest missing persons investigations carried out by West Midlands Police,” a police spokesperson said.
Jenna Shaw, detective sergeant in the cold case investigation team, praised the work of this “small team” of police officers, and in particular that of “Commissioner Shaun Reeve, who managed to solve this matter with the help of the public. “Every missing person has a story, and their families and friends deserve to know what happened to them,” she added.
