Gala Match for RAEC Mons: A taste of the Pro League in Tondreau this Saturday

This weekend, no matches will be played in the different divisions of our football, but some clubs have organized friendly matches. This is the case of RAEC Mons, which is preparing to welcome FC Liège.

Albert de Mons is currently leading D1 ACFF with 37 points, one point ahead of Olympic Charleroi. The objective is clear: return to the professional divisions of Belgian football and bring the Pro League back to Tondreau ten years after the disappearance of the “historic” RAEC Mons.

This weekend, although the D1 ACFF, the JPL and the CPL are not playing matches, there will certainly be football in Tondreau. The Albert will welcome RFC Liège, currently 9th in the Challenger Pro League, for a gala match, free for all subscribers. The match is scheduled for Saturday, January 4, at 6:00 p.m.

In its New Year greetings, RAEC Mons announced plans to celebrate the club’s 115th anniversary in 2025, with promotion to the Challenger Pro League and continued development of the new Stade Tondreau project, which has sparked much conversation .

League action will resume a week later for Montois with an away match on January 12 against , currently 5th in D1 ACFF. Recently, we received “good” news – at least for Walloon football: in D1 VV, only one club – the U23 team from Ghent – has so far requested a license to move up to the Challenger Pro League.

This means that if Ghent’s young players fail to finish in the top 6 of D1 VV, two clubs from D1 ACFF will be promoted directly without having to go through the playoffs. We’ve explained this in more detail here, but now we’ll have to wait until the license submission deadline to make it official…
