DENVER (AP) — In a dazzling display, Nikola Jokic put on a show with a triple-double performance of 23 points, 17 rebounds and 15 assists, leading the Denver Nuggets to a convincing 139-120 victory over the Atlanta Hawks , Wednesday evening.
Jokic was just one assist away from reaching the triple-double milestone in the first half alone, showcasing his exceptional passing skills. He finally recorded his 144th career triple-double early in the third quarter, demonstrating why he is one of the elite players in the league.
Supporting Jokic's effort, Jamal Murray chipped in with 21 points, while Russell Westbrook added 16 points and 11 assists, helping the Nuggets record their third straight victory. The win set a positive tone for Denver as they prepare to face a demanding schedule with 17 games scheduled this month.

The Nuggets were impeccable on free throws, shooting a perfect 21 of 21. They also set a new season record with 44 assists, dominating the Hawks with a 2-0 record in this season's matchups. Earlier in the season, the Nuggets triumphed over Atlanta 141-111 on December 8, where Jokic stole the show with a remarkable performance of 48 points and 14 rebounds.
On the other side of the court, Trae Young led the Hawks with 30 points and nine assists, while De'Andre Hunter added 20 points as Atlanta's four-game winning streak came to an unexpected end.
The loss leaves the Hawks with a historic record of 11-11 all-time on New Year's Day.
For the Nuggets, Russell Westbrook continues to ignite the starting five, especially with Aaron Gordon sidelined with a right calf strain. Denver had a total of seven players finishing the game with doubles points, showing off their depth and distribution.

Young has now had five or more assists in 193 consecutive regular season games, marking the third-longest streak in NBA history, behind legends John Stockton (336) and Isiah Thomas (209).
Looking ahead, the Hawks will travel to Los Angeles to face the Lakers on Friday, while the Nuggets will return home to host the San Antonio Spurs.
