HAMBURG, Germany – In a significant move for player and club, the American midfielder James Sands signed for a six-month loan to join the club Bundesliga St. Pauli coming from New York City FC. The announcement was made official on Wednesday, as the January transfer market opened.

This new chapter in Sands’ career comes with an attractive option for St. Pauli to extend the deal until the end of the saison 2025-26providing ample opportunity for the 24-year-old to leave his mark in Germany.

Having already caused a sensation on the other side of the Atlantic, this will be Sands’ second European experience. The New York native enjoyed a productive loan spell with the Rangers in Scottish Premiershipwhere he participated in 41 matches in all competitions during his one-year stay.

Adding to his credentials, Sands represented theUnited States national team on 13 occasions, highlighting its potential on the international stage. St. Pauli secured their place in the Bundesliga after winning the German second division title last season, and they currently sit in 14th position among the league’s 18 teams.
