The former Minister of Justice, Pape Malick Ndour, returned to the question concerning the repeal of the Amnesty law recently announced by the new authorities. The Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, during his general policy statement announced the repeal of this law to identify responsibilities following the events which caused deaths, injuries as well as arrests in Senegal.
“I completely agree because I am against impunity,” said Pape Malick Ndour. Concerning the amnesty law, Pape Malick Ndour believes that he has nothing to reproach himself for.

“I was in the government during the implementation of the amnesty law and I was a supporter of this law because in the Council of Ministers, the President of the Republic (Editor’s note: Macky Sall), through his Minister of Justice, had well explained the explanatory memorandum concerning this law,” declares the former minister.
“The most important thing in all of this is that it calms down the situation. We had to give certain Senegalese the opportunity to leave prisons to express their perceptions in public policies,” he added, citing the example of current President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and the Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko.

In any case, says Pape Malick Ndour, the former Head of State got what he wanted since he released people, the Senegalese expressed themselves through the ballot boxes and voted for those who had been detained in prisons.
“By analyzing this situation and the Presidential election which took place in a peaceful, organized and transparent manner, we realize that this law was a relevant law,” he said.

Before continuing: “From my point of view, this context has been outdated, and today it is no longer the same because those who benefited from this law are currently running this country. And yet, it is they themselves who should apologize to the Senegalese after everything that happened, but today they say they were not at fault, pointing the finger at us. »
What about the accusations made by Pape Abdoulaye Toure against him? Pape Malick Ndour declares: “I need to fight these people who accuse me of complicity in assassination or attempted assassination, who accuse me of having personally armed young Senegalese people. I want to show all Senegalese people that they are not telling the truth,” he added.
