AG AGAINST THE VIOLENCE policeANDRES ET INSTITUTIONAL

Thursday January 2 at the Gaîté Lyrique 6 p.m.

A young minor from the Parc de Belleville youth collective was beaten up in the police station at 18e district of on the night of December 18 to 19. The collective calls for a AG against police and institutional violence on Thursday January 2 at the Gaîté Lyrique at 6 p.m.

We will not remain silent in the face of police and racist violence.

Enough of the silence and impunity !

On the afternoon of December 18, NDa young minor hosted by the Paris City Hall and under the responsibility of the Paris City Hall thanks to the actions of the Parc de Belleville Youth Collective, was in the metro station-RER Denfert-Rochereau when he was knocked down and handcuffed by the RATP security service who also ripped off and crushed his music headphones. What sparked this violence ? Well, ND simply skipped the turnstile because he didn't have a ticket.

He, like all MNA in minority appeals in Paris need to travel constantly to go to solidarity food distributions, public baths, associations that support them, see their lawyers, etc.

But unlike the rest of minors living in Paris, they do not have free access to the Navigo card. As with the right to accommodation, school and health, the legal vacuum created by their recourse situation serves as a false justification for institutions to not take charge of the mobility of young people, thus putting them in a situation of extreme vulnerability to controls by law enforcement.

Ratp security then called the police who quickly came and put ND in custody at

police station of 18e stop. Around 2 a.m., a doctor came to certify the young person's good state of health.

A few hours later, NDlocked up, knocked on his cell door because he wanted to go to the toilet. In response to his request, five police officers entered the cell, removed the cameras attached to their uniforms and began to beat and insult him.

While a policeman crushed the jaw of ND with his boots to stop him from screaming and another crushed his back with his foot to immobilize him, a third kicked his foot with his boot until it was broken. The remaining two stood in front of the door to prevent anyone from entering. These physical attacks behind closed doors were accompanied by racist and anti-migrant insults. One of the police officers notably told ND that he and his colleagues had “no nothing to give a damn about people like him who come by boat without a passport ».

These facts are not isolated news items, but one more example of a structurally racist police force, particularly towards MNA. Not a day goes by without a young person being arrested in one of the gymnasiums where the Town Hall accommodates them, without a young person being put in custody. GIFT at the end of a Collective demonstration, someone else being attacked by Ratp security, etc…

We denounce this police and institutional violence as well as the harassment of which young minors are victims on a daily basis.

We demand their protection and respect for their rights !

We call on everyone who feels revolted and wants to organize to participate in:

l’AG AGAINST THE VIOLENCE policeANDRES ET INSTITUTIONAL which will take place at THE GAITÉ LYRICALOCCUPEE ET IN STRUGGLE– the THURSDAY 2 JANUARY.

With the participation of the Belleville Park Youth Collective, the Truth and Justice Committee for Safyatou, Salim and Ilan ; of the Anti Assembly CRA d'Île de and Alexis Baudelin and Servane Meyniard, lawyers from the Légal Team.
