the essential
Sophie and Nabil's daughter is the first Lot-et-Garonnais newborn of the year. Named Aliya, she was born at 3:30 a.m. at the Marmande hospital center.
It was at the Marmande maternity ward that the first baby of 2025 in Lot-et-Garonne was born. The little girl is named Aliya, measures 53.5 centimeters and weighs 3.8 kg. A little pink bonnet on her head, she is still sleeping, her head resting against her mother's chest.
Born a week early
“It was a quick but painful birth,” confides Sophie, 37 years old. The night was short for the couple who live in Tonneins. She and her husband, Nabil, a car dealer, have only slept an hour since her water broke on the morning of December 31. “We arrived here yesterday at 11 a.m.,” says the 43-year-old father, his face still marked by fatigue. His partner, with whom he has shared his life for 12 years, gave birth at 3:30 a.m.
A surprise for the couple who were not expecting their child daughter before January 8. “Being born just after the holidays is not ideal, but the main thing is that she is in good health,” reassures Sophie. The thirty-year-old, who works at Lisi Aéroespace in Marmande, is in her fifth birth.
The youngest child in a blended family
Aliya, whose first name was chosen by “favorite” is the youngest child in a blended family. She has, in total, six brothers and sisters. Two from his mother's side, two from his father's side and two 6-year-old twin brothers, the fruit of the union between Sophie and Nabil. “It’s the last one!” », assures the mother, with a smile on her lips. Currently at their grandmother's house, the rest of the siblings will be able to meet their sister on Saturday, the day the little family should return home.
In the meantime, the oldest Lot-et-Garonnais baby of 2025 will remain warm in her cradle, surrounded by the midwives and nurses of the department who were getting ready, around 4 p.m. this 1is January, to trigger a cesarean section to welcome the second newborn of the day.
No births in Agen or Villeneuve
In the department's other maternity wards, in Agen and Villeneuve, no babies were born on January 1. Last year, Agen welcomed eight between 12:36 a.m. and 5:23 p.m., and Villeneuve only one, a little girl named Ava born at 3:24 p.m.
