The Yvelines department is not nicknamed “the green lung” for nothing. With its numerous parks, gardens and wooded areas, it has obtained, for the third time since 2013, the “Flowered Department” label, awarded by the National Council of Towns and Villages in Flowers.
Each year, the departmental council organizes an awards ceremony to reward the Yvelines municipalities involved in the label. For the 2024 edition, the ceremony took place on December 6, in Montesson. Among the winners, we will note the towns of Gambais and Jouars-Pontchartrain which received two petals for their first participation, those of Fontenay-Mauvoisin and Saint-Arnoult-en-Yvelines which benefited from a third petal, or even that of Boissière -School which received its fourth. Évecquemont and Méré, for their part, received their fifth petal and are eligible for the national competition.
To close the ceremony, additional trophies were awarded to the municipalities involved. That of Sailly was awarded the “natural cemetery” award, while that of Épône obtained the trophy for heritage and landscape enhancement. The municipality of Porcheville pocketed the trophy for nature in the city and urban ecology.
