► Israel threatens to intensify its strikes on Gaza
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened on Wednesday January 1 to intensify strikes on the Gaza Strip if the Palestinian movement Hamas continues to fire rockets towards Israel, as it has done in recent days.
“I want to send a clear message to those responsible for the terrorists in Gaza: if Hamas does not soon allow the release of the Israeli hostages held in Gaza (…) and continues to fire on the Israeli population, it will be exposed to blows. an intensity that Gaza has not seen in a long time”declared the minister during a visit to Netivot, a town recently targeted by a rocket attack.

The Civil Defense of the Gaza Strip announced that fifteen people were killed overnight in an Israeli strike on a house in Jabaliya, in the north of the Palestinian territory devastated by more than a year of war.
“As the world celebrates the new year, we welcome 2025 with the first Israeli massacre in the Gaza Strip, in Jabaliya”declared Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal, reporting an assessment of “15 dead and more than 20 injured”.
► Syria and Egypt discuss regional “stability”
The head of Syrian diplomacy Assaad Al Chibani reported on Tuesday evening a telephone call with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty, the two men emphasizing the role of their countries in “the stability and prosperity of the region”.
