New Year's Eve between Montpellier and Béziers saw a few incidents, including vehicle fires. The authorities identified nine burned cars across the entire sector under police responsibility. Despite these figures, the situation was generally calm.
Béziers: three fires in the night
In Beziersthe flames began to break out at 10:30 p.m. Rue Pierre Jalabert, a first car was destroyed by fire. An hour later, rue d'Oran, a second vehicle caught fire in similar circumstances. Finally, Avenue Armand Vaquerin was the scene of a third fire before midnight. These incidents were concentrated in outlying neighborhoods, although the city center also required intervention on Rue Raspail.
On the Montpellier sidethe situation was also contained. Six vehicles were recorded as being burned in several neighborhoods. If these figures reflect acts of vandalism, they remain moderate compared to the excesses recorded in previous years.
