A car accident at the start of the evening, a pigsty on fire shortly after midnight, and finally a woman who slipped from her window… the Rennes firefighters carried out a series of interventions. Without, however, giving up wishing each other a Happy New Year.

In the guard room of the Beauregard barracks, in Rennes, calls to the firefighters follow one another. The first links in a call for help, the operators quickly assess the situations reported by telephone, before dispatching a team of firefighters or emergency services to the field. For Chief Sergeant Angélique Dy, New Year’s Eve is always a working night different from the others, “with more work and more moments of tension, but also a moment shared between colleagues.”

If they went to put out trash can or car fires, the firefighters were also called, around 1:10 a.m., this Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in Thorigné Fouillard, east of Rennes , to help a 42-year-old woman. While celebrating New Year’s Eve, she slipped from her second-story window and fell onto a roof terrace below.

To help the victim, the reconnaissance and intervention group in dangerous environments (Grimp) was dispatched to the site. Thirteen firefighters were mobilized for this intervention. The victim was taken to hospital for further examinations.
