Fem van Empel added the women’s GP Sven Nys, round 5 of the X2O Bathrooms Trophy, to her record on New Year’s Day. She just finished ahead of Lucinda Brand in the sprint. Puck Pieterse crossed the finish line in third place.
No Ceylin Alvarado or Annemarie Worst at the start. The former world champion adapted today, as did Worst who is suffering from a hand injury. Lucinda Brand, who easily occupies first place in the ranking and has already run all the rounds, was able to do good business again.
It turned out it wasn’t “the cat in the cup.” In the first round, Puck Pieterse immediately put the tendon on it. Brand was the only one able to follow, partly because Fem van Empel crashed and rested before restarting. After one lap the difference was huge. Van Empel was 30 seconds behind leader Pieterse, Brand followed at eight seconds.
At the start of the second lap, Pieterse had doubled his lead over Brand, but the leader was also “baptized” and also found himself in the mud. The Dutch champion is getting closer again: the lead has disappeared.

Lucinda Brand has decided. Just before the Balenberg summit, we have a new leader. The versatile Pieterse had no response and saw Van Empel closing in from behind. The world champion also wanted to go, but Pieterse found himself stuck in the wheel.
At the start of the last lap, the Van Empel-Pieterse duo was 13 seconds behind Brand. The world champion continued at full speed and left Pieterse behind. She even reached two meters on the steep wall, allowing her to join the final straight. Brand immediately started the sprint, but was one meter short of the finish line. Van Empel wins mightily at Baal. Lucinda Brand is second, followed by Puck Pieterse.
