A tragedy occurred on New Year's Eve in New , Louisiana. A motorist hit a dense crowd walking in the city's French Quarter, reports BFMTV on Wednesday January 1. Around 3:15 a.m. (local time), “a vehicle drove into a large crowd at the corner of Canal and Bourbon Street. There are 30 injured who were transported by (rescue) and 10 dead”said the local Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. The vehicle then fled.

“A horrific act of violence took place on Bourbon Street earlier this morning. I urge everyone present near the scene to avoid the area.”alerted the governor of Louisiana, Jeff Landry, about X. An investigation was opened, but at this stage no information has been communicated concerning the author, his motivations, or his potential arrest.
