‘One person was killed following an enemy attack on kyiv. The number of injured rose to seven, including two pregnant women, the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office said on Telegram on Wednesday.
The victim was killed in the Pechersk district, in the historic city center of the capital, where a fire broke out in a residential building and an administrative building, according to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry.
It would be the roof of the building of the Ukrainian National Bank, according to the latter, located approximately three hundred meters from the presidential offices.

The fire was started by debris from drones shot down by air defense, according to kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, while AFP journalists heard multiple and powerful detonations in the city center of the capital Wednesday morning.

Other people were injured in the Sviatoshin district, on the outskirts of kyiv, where a tram track and cars were set on fire, according to the mayor.
For its part, the Ukrainian Air Force claims to have shot down 63 drones of the 111 that Russia sent to Ukraine, mainly Iranian-designed Shahed attack drones and ‘other types of drones’.

While this attack left people injured in the Ukrainian capital, it targeted a large part of the country, with drones having been shot down in the northeast, north, southeast and south of the country, according to the Ukrainian army. the air.

In his New Year’s speech on Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin did not explicitly mention the war in Ukraine, but said that “the thoughts and hopes of relatives and friends, of millions of people across Russia , are with our fighters and our commanders’.
