The Djokovic/Kyrgios pair eliminated in the round of 16 in Brisbane

After their first victory in the men's doubles draw, Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios played their round of 16 on January 1, 2025.

The obstacle that stood in the way of the two men was, however, significant, since they were the number 1 seeds of the tournament: Nikola Mektic and Michael Venus.

The meeting was balanced and supported by the public, the Djokovic/Kyrgios pair gave everything.

Despite a lead in the super tie-break of the third set, logic was finally respected and Mektic/Venus had the last word (6-2, 3-6, 10-8).

However, it is not yet over for the Serbian in Brisbane. After his success in singles against Rinky Hijikata (6-3, 6-3), Djokovic will return to the court on Thursday to face Gaël Monfils.

The Frenchman has never managed to beat him on the main circuit in 19 confrontations.

Already eliminated in singles (he lost as soon as he entered the fray against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 7-6, 6-7, 7-6), the Australian will, for his part, be able to treat his wrist with a view to the Australian Open which starts in two weeks and which should be his next objective.
