INTERNATIONAL – A decimated family. A South Korean told the Yonhap news agency on Monday, December 30, that he had lost 12 relatives in the crash of the Jeju Air plane, which was returning from Bangkok. They had all just spent the Christmas holidays together in Thailand.

“I am the only one who survived”lamented this man, who calls himself Mr. A. in the Yonhap article. Working in India for the subsidiary of a South Korean company, he had joined 12 members of his family and five other tourists from Mopko on a tour organized by a travel company.

In detail, four members of his close family and nine others more distant were present during these holidays during which the grandfather’s birthday was celebrated. “I didn’t think it would end like this when my family and I left”he declared. And to continue in tears: “I can’t forget the voice of this little 6-year-old girl who came with us because it was her grandfather’s birthday. »

“I am heartbroken”

Yonhap reports that the crash of the Boeing 737-800 was the first thing MA heard when it landed in India. He quickly decided to take the plane to go to Muan airport, where the tragedy took place. “I am heartbroken,” the man added.

179 people died out of the 181 passengers on the plane, aged between 3 and 78 years old. Only two members of the crew survived, a man and a woman. According to authorities, the presumed cause of the tragedy is a collision with birds.
