This Thursday, Elye Wahi celebrates his 22nd birthday. Arriving this summer at Olympique de Marseille from Racing Club de Lens, the native of Courcouronnes is currently struggling to settle into the Olympian starting lineup. Despite everything, confidence is still present among Marseille leaders. Asked about the situation of the former Lensois two weeks ago, Pablo Longoria was firm: “A departure from Wahi for us is out of the question. We believe a lot in Elye's potential. Marseille is not waiting for anyone. But each player has his own rhythm. I believe he is one of the best young strikers in Europe. His time will come, we are calm, he must remain calm, and I have confidence. He will end up winning, he has all the qualities.“
Rabiot convinced that Wahi will break everything in 2025!
A statement that was in line with that of Roberto De Zerbi, who calls for patience for his player: “It's not a question of football knowledge, although he may not have had it in the past. It is also a question of adaptation in an important place, different from what he has known. He's a good boy, a great player with enormous potential. I want to work so that he can improve. I believe in individuals who form a collective” launched the Italian, supported in his remarks by Valentin Rongier: “Coach speaks up enough about Elye for me to do it. He has a lot of qualities but as you said: it’s hard. It takes a period of adaptation. We know the atmosphere and the excitement here. That's for sure, especially for a striker from whom we expect goals. You have to face criticism. He is still a young player and we must not forget that because he has been playing for a long time but he is not completely mature yet. I have no doubt about him.”
And obviously, Adrien Rabiot is of the same opinion as the people cited above. In a story on Instagram, the French international did not fail to wish his teammate a happy birthday in his own way: “Long live my little one, 2k25 is for you” he posted. A great way to show your confidence!
