It’s now been more than 30 years since the cult series dallas was completed. And yet, decades later, it continues to inspire adoration and fascination. dallas : “There were sometimes little panties with a telephone number stapled!”the astonishing anecdote of Patrick Duffy

In an interview with our colleagues at Public, Patrick Duffy spoke about the immense popularity of the series and his character Bobby. A glory which sometimes had astonishing consequences and some manifestations of which, particularly on the part of certain women, proved unexpected: “I could manage [le public féminin] ! The real owner of the Southfork ranch, much less so. For years, he found messages in his mailbox intended for me. On the envelope it said “To Bobby with love”. Inside the fold, there were sometimes little panties with a telephone number stapled to them! The guy was so bothered by these women – some were jumping in his swimming pool, others had their noses pressed to the windows of his living room – that he ended up selling!”

After the death of his wife, Patrick Duffy found love again

Widowed since the death of his wife Carlyn Rosser in 2017, Patrick Duffy found love again in 2020 thanks to actress Linda Purl. Still in this interview, the 75 actor returned to this romantic rebirth whose origins go back a long time: “We have known each other since 1978. Professionally, I mean. Nothing had ever happened between us. During confinement, we spoke quite a bit by Zoom and we immediately understood that we had a connection! As weird as that may seem, it is thanks to Covid that our hearts have become closer. After three months of video exchanges, my eyes were so red from the hours spent on my screen that I couldn’t take it anymore. that we see. So I drove across half of America to get to her house! I had to take her in my arms. I didn’t know at all how she would react once I reached her door. I said to him: ‘Can I kiss you?’ She made me understand that she agreed… You have to believe that we were made for each other since we have been in perfect love for three years now!” A beautiful story for the eternal interpreter of Bobby, the positive hero of dallas facing the cynical and vile JR, played by the late Larry Hagman…
