After a first season that absolutely broke all records on Netflix, Squid Game is currently broadcasting its season 2 and is still a hit. Top 1 in many countries, more than for its first broadcast, the Korean series is still a small phenomenon. Moreover, Netflix has once again confirmed a third season, even revealing when it will be released. Incidentally, the SVOD giant brushes aside a rumor that appeared recently.

Season 3 of Squid Game is already coming soon

It’s the big return of the deadly games since December 24, 2024 on Netflix. Season 2 of Squid Game follows in the footsteps of the first and once again focuses on Gi-hun, winner of the first season, determined to put an end to the games.

It was no secret, but a season 3 has been re-confirmed by Netflix. Where one might have expected it to arrive around 2026, it has been claimed that Squid Game season 3 will arrive this year, in 2025. We are still waiting for confirmation of a more precise release window, even if some are talking about summer or fall. A recent leak would have even missed the date of June 27to see if this will be confirmed later. You have to believe that everything was filmed on the line, and for good reason, it will be a direct sequel once again. Between season 3 of Squid Gameseason 2 of Wednesday and season 3 of Stranger Things2025 promises to be busy on Netflix.

By the way, for those who may have seen the rumor circulating that Leonardo DiCaprio would drop by for season 3 of Squid Game, Netflix denied everything. “These are unfounded rumors, it’s false” said the Korean branch of the platform. The famous actor of Titanic will not be part of the cast of the next season of the Korean series.

What to expect from season 3 (SPOILERS ALERT)

No DiCaprio in the casting so, on the other hand, we know that the hero Gi-hun ( Jung-jae Lee ) will be thereobviously, but also Dae-ho (Ha-Neul Kang) and Hyun-ju (Park Sung-hoon), both surviving of the carnage at the end of season 2.

For season 3 of Squid Gameit will once again be a question of combat since Gi-hun will have to fight more than ever for his own survival, to put an end to the games, but also for revenge. Season 2 ends in dramatic fashion after a twist that the characters did not see coming. The players’ insurrection is violently aborted by the Front Man, infiltrated among them who quickly puts an end to the clashes by taking the time to execute our hero’s best friend, leaving him shot and taken prisoner with that.

The creator of the series automatically warns us, season 3 may be different since the hero, “Gi-hun, will no longer be the same man he was in previous seasons”. There is already a world of difference between the first and second seasons, but obviously, we are going to move up a notch with the last one. Season 3 of Squid Game will then have to put an end to all this and the settling of scores already promises to be bloody. The duel between Gi-hun and the Front Man seems inevitableeven if there are still a lot of unknowns in the equation and the noose is tightening regarding the games. We’ll see, see you in a few months to get the idea

In the meantime, you can find season 1 and 2 of Squid Game on Netflix.
