A look back at the project of famous photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand visiting the west this year, to bring “life to INSEE statistics”. A major exhibition is planned in Paris and in all the stopover cities.
He has set up his studio in the great West several times this year: the famous Yann Arthus-Bertrand stopped off in Saint-Nazaire, Saumur, Saint-Brieuc and La Gacilly. The photographer is completing a vast project: painting a portrait of the French and those who live in France, to “bring life to INSEE statistics”.
In Saint Brieuc, it is in a multipurpose room that Yann Arthus-Bertrand installed his famous sepia-colored tarpaulin. Nearly 800 people will pose: sea rescuers; members of a board game club, market gardeners, nurses and even Emmanuelle, a soap maker from Trégor. “I was told on the phone to bring as many things as possible, and I took everything I could: my soaps, my bowls that we didn't use, my soap molds…”

Yann Arthus Bertrand and his team have already produced more than 20,000 portraits and this work, which should have been completed by 2024, will finally continue in the coming weeks, before a major exhibition planned in Paris and in all the stopover cities. .
