Former player Jacques Faty joined OM in 2007. The former Senegalese international had several options when he left and he revealed that he could have joined PSG or Juventus Turin.

Jacques Faty played at Olympique de Marseille during the 2007-2008 season after spending five seasons at Rennes. However, his path could have been completely different for the central defender. As he told Arena, Jacques Faty spoke about the many choices he had instead of joining OM.

“I had a choice”

“You should know that Marseille wanted me, PSG wanted me, wanted me. I had a choice. Juventus wanted me at the time. I had a choice with the clubs. And I choose Marseille? Oh yes, straight. Pape Diouf, Senegalese like me. The heart was there, the salary was very good”

Jacques Faty finally chose OM, even if initially he did not want to leave Rennes.

“I wanted to stay in Rennes”

“I really wanted to stay in Rennes. I really liked Rennes. Rennes was my city. It was the place where I was comfortable with my family. I wanted to stay in Rennes. But when Marseille arrived, Pape Diouf arrived and said: “My little one, come here.” We're leaving Rennes for OM »

Finally, after a season at OM, he joined FC Sochaux between 2008 and 2011.
