The lifeless body of a trailer who left for the mountains in the Pyrenees was found this Saturday, December 28, at the end of the day, in the Sédour sector, not far from Tarascon-sur-Ariège. The circumstances of this tragedy remain unknown for the moment.

It was around 2 p.m. this Saturday, December 28, when residents of Tarascon-sur-Ariège alerted the gendarmerie after hearing calls for help, then the sound of a landslide in the vicinity of the Sédour rock, which overlooks the city. The military immediately launched a search, without success.

A second call, this time to the fire brigade, was made at 4 p.m. by the relatives of a trailer who, worried not to see him return even though he had planned his return to Arignac, a village near Tarascon, around 3 p.m., reported his disappearance. The area being steep, the firefighters quickly handed over to the high mountain gendarmerie platoon (PGHM) of Savignac-les-Ormeaux, which immediately began further research.

For several hours, the PGHM helicopter flew over the area, with the support of the air brigades of Pujols, near Pamiers, and , equipped with thermal cameras. The lifeless body of the trailer was finally found a little after 6 p.m. at the foot of a rocky ridge.

“He had to go up towards Arignac, then follow the ridge. From a distance, it doesn’t look impressive but it’s a cliff with a good height,” assures the first deputy of the commune of Surba, Georges Marrot, who went to place. Fall, illness or accident, the causes of his death are currently unknown, an investigation has been opened to determine them.

This tragic accident occurs three weeks after a Spanish couple disappeared in the Pic de Rulhe area, not far from the Andorran border. To date, their bodies have still not been found despite extensive searches.
