One year after his appointment as head coach, Nicolas Seube is leaving Stade Malherbe Caen, the management of the Normandy football club announced on Sunday, December 29.
Arriving on the bench in November 2023, Nicolas Seube led 44 matches as coach. The results obtained this season were not enough to convince management to continue this collaboration. SM Caen is currently ranked 16th in Ligue 2, in penultimate place, tied with Ajaccio and ahead of Martigues. SM Caen finished the 2023-2024 season in 6th place.
The start of the season was marked by defeats against Dunkirk, Guingamp or Grenoble, clubs that the Caennais had outclassed in 2023-2024. The Normans therefore realized their worst start to season since 2005.
In a statement, the club expressed its gratitude to Nicolas Seube, who is also one of its former players, saying: “The club thanks Nicolas Seube for his commitment for more than twenty years and wishes him good continuation in his coaching career.“.
The name of his successor has not yet been revealed.
